Orchestra Victoria Eleison was born December 24, 1982, created by Emeneya Mubiala Jean,
better known as King Kester Emeneya, born in 1956 in Kikwit in the province of Bandudu, west of the current Democratic Republic of Congo (ex-Zaire).
It was after five years spent in the orchestra of the great Papa Wemba he created his own band,
the Victoria Eleison.
The orchestra, led by King Kester, now has over 400 titles in his repertory.
Emeneya is considered as one of the greatest artists of the contemporary Congolese scene. He was received several times by President Mobutu Sese Seko, three times by Laurent-Désiré Kabila and twice by Joseph Kabila. Mobutu had even gave him the honor to animate the evening party for the visit of French President Francois Mitterand in the People's Palace in Kinshasa!
