While her trip to Colombia last spring, Mambo C, gifted and informed digger, meet an old collector in the suburbs of Medellin. The old man took a liking and probably conquered by the charm of Flo, agreed to take her home to sell him some records.
In the midst of those there were many 45 rpm, including several releases from the small cult label 'Silver'...
Gaita, Porro, Merengue, Paseo, Guaracha, Jorapo, Cumbia and Plena from 1950s and early 60's Colombian 7 inches.

Florence Chavrier aka Mambo C. has been a very close and special friend for me since a very long time. She was part of this 'Les Mains Noires' project at the very beginning and to be true, It is even her who found this name first!
Many things starts together, like the interest and the research about 'tropical' music for example! Common passions about chic & perfumed 'dirty' early recordings who takes nowadays the shape of this compilation whose story is:

While her trip to Colombia last spring, Flo, gifted and informed digger, meet an old collector in the suburbs of Medellin. The old man took a liking and probably conquered by the charm of Flo, agreed to take her home to sell him some records.
In the midst of those there were many 45 rpm, including several releases from the small cult label 'Silver'...

"Silver label has been set up in about 1950 in Medellin by Julio and José Ramirez Johns, Antioqueno merchants and indistrialists who had also been distributing Colombia and Odeon records in the city. They recorded international and national artists, including a lot of material by Lucho Bermudez and Leonel Ospina, although the company did not specialize in any particular type of music. The firm lasted until the early 1960s, when it was taken over by Industria Nacional del Sonido (INS)."
'Music, race, & nation: música tropical in Colombia' by Peter Wade

Thus Florence brought home the treasures unearthed at the bottom of an improbable cabin.

So I'm very thankful to her for decided to share those records here !
I hope that you all will enjoy those old Colombian vibes as much as me, as much as her!
