.BIGUINE-LÉLÉ avec FRANCISCO
sous le ciel des Antilles.

Hit Parade HPR 50

Denis Mathurin Frantz alias Francisco was born on the 9th of November 1932,
at the Clinique Saint-Paul, in Fort-de-France (Martinique).
Single son, he lived a bourgeois childhood in the shadow of Mount Pelée between the villages of Saint-Pierre and Morne Rouge.
This complex and ambivalent character led a bohemian life while remaining faithful to his bourgeois origins and despite its commitment to the traditional music of his native island, he contributed a lot in the establishment of the Afro-Cuban music in Martinique.

He has revolutionized the accompanying concept of the Creole biguines and mazurkas, but he was very respectful of the specificities of these traditional forms and worked for their reintegration in the repertoire of dance band.

The pieces he recorded are few and very hard to find. He often repeats the same songs from one record to another, but each time they are renewed as they mark a deepening of his personal musical research.
The Lp we are presenting to you is his second Hit Parade album.

This Lp has been found, recorded and shared by My Old Friend Fred Martin so, many thanks to him.
