Ultra rare Afro-Funk Holy Grail from Ghana, recorded in 1976 and now re-issued for the first time in a fully official Deluxe edition, remastered by Frank Merritt at The Carvery, in hard ‘paste-on’ cover and limited to 500 copies!
Drummer extraordinaire and vocalist born in 1953, in Lomé - Togo’s capital and border town with Ghana - Frank Kakrah, better known as De Frank, has started his career as a drummer and percussionist in bands like Samdan’s 8, The Barbecues, Okukuseku No.2 and Saints’73 before joining the legendary K.Frimpong’s Cubanos Fiestas.
In those first years as a musician, he learned the powerful art of modernising HighLife with Funky beats, apprenticeship that allowed him, in 1976, to create his own group, The Professionals, with whom he recorded 5 fantastics and extremely hard to find LPs.
Psychedelic Man is the first and has been released in 1976.
It has then be followed by Dig This Way (1977), De Frank Professionals (1978), Baby Don’t Play Me Wayo (1979) and Jamaican Sounds (1981).
